Why your school years might still be echoing in your business today — and how to shift the story.
You don’t think about school much anymore — at least, not on the surface.
But something in you still flinches when you don’t get it “right” the first time.
You freeze when you’re asked to explain yourself.
You overprepare, overthink, overgive — just to feel safe enough to be seen.
You’ve got the qualifications.
You’ve done the healing work.
You know you’re capable.
So why is confidence still such a moving target?
The answer might surprise you.
Because for so many brilliant women I work with, the root of that fragile self-trust isn’t a mindset issue.
It’s an old wound — one planted long ago, in classrooms that never saw your magic.
What is Educational Wounding?
Educational wounding is the unseen imprint left by school systems that reward a narrow type of intelligence — and ignore the rest.
It’s the microtrauma of being:
- The last to finish the test
- The one who was told to “apply herself”
- The daydreamer
- The fidgeter
- The one who “talked too much,” “thought too much,” or “felt too much”
- The creative who couldn’t show her workings
- The dyslexic girl labelled “bright, but lazy”
You might not call it trauma.
But the body remembers.
And when unprocessed, it can quietly run the show in your business, decades later.
The Quiet Impact of School-Based Shame
Educational wounds don’t always roar.
More often, they whisper:
- “I’m not smart enough to charge that.”
- “If I get this wrong, I’ll lose their trust.”
- “I have to work twice as hard to prove I belong.”
- “If I can’t explain it perfectly, no one will get it.”
And because these messages got tangled up with how you were taught to learn, it’s easy to believe they’re facts — not echoes.
Why Traditional Success Paths Feel So Off
If school taught you to survive by masking your differences, it makes sense that “showing up online” or “scaling with strategy” now feels terrifying.
Your nervous system learned to avoid visibility, because visibility once meant vulnerability.
Correction. Exposure. Shame.
And even though you’re not that schoolgirl anymore…
A part of you still wants to stay safe.
And safe often looks like:
- Hiding behind perfectionism
- Starting and stopping
- Constantly doubting your instincts
- Undervaluing your work — just in case
But that’s not who you really are.
That’s just who you had to be to survive a system that never saw your brilliance.
Healing Begins with Recognition
The first step isn’t to “fix” yourself.
It’s to gently name what happened — and honour how brilliantly your body adapted.
You didn’t fail the system.
The system failed to meet you.
And now? You get to build a new one.
A slower, safer, more spacious way of learning, growing, and showing up — led by your nervous system, not the old internalised rules.
💫 This Is the Work of the Slow Revolution
We start by creating safety — not strategy.
We go beneath the surface to meet the parts of you still carrying the shame, the freeze, the overfunctioning.
And we rebuild your confidence from the inside out — not as performance, but as your natural state when you finally feel safe to be yourself.
Because the truth is:
Your way of learning was never wrong. It was just never recognised.
And your business doesn’t need fixing — it needs to be rewired around the way you’re built to thrive.
